PRESS RELEASE May 6, 2008
TO THE MEDIA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pirjetta Brander’s works on display in Paris.
Pirjetta Brander’s video work Guinea Pig and a new installation Village are
on
display at MAC/VAL museum in Paris May 17 - July 7, 2008.
Village consists of seven cottages of different sizes and the shape and
structures of the houses have been simplified to the extreme. All buildings
are
painted black on the outside and red on the inside. Red paths connect the
houses
to each other forming an organic entity. The main cottage of the
installation
has green figures painted on the red walls, ceiling and floor. The contrast
of
complementary colours generates an extraordinary light and atmosphere to
which
the spectator inside the cottage can submerge oneself in. The sound design
for
the installation comes from Étienne Charry who is a French musician. The
installation was carried through during Pirjetta Brander’s residency period
in
spring 2008. Village is a production of Musée Mac/Val.
